Holding uptrend stocks through earnings

Pat, I'm a new VIP member and am watching your videos.  My question is about holding a stock through earnings.  Your advice was to NEVER (I think you said it three times for emphasis) hold a stock into earnings.  In another video you mentioned that you could ride a stock that's in an uptrend for weeks, months or a year if it rides the 8ema and 21 ema.  How should I handle this type of situation?  BTW, I hope I have this problem to worry about!
