Wait. You said if a stock is having earnings on a Thursday, you would buy it the Wednesday right before but not the Thursday of earnings. Then you said be careful owning a stock through earnings? So do you hold through earnings or not or do you put in a tighter protective stop at earnings? (I ALWAYS put in a protective stop when I buy a stock. I have already decided when to get out usually at a 8% IBD recommended stop loss to keep the emotion out of it and so I don’t start justify owning a stock as it goes down) If I am profitable in a stock and I have a nice cushion, I feel better holding over earnings. Or if the stock is going up nice before earnings and the market in general is up, and the majority of other stocks are having good earnings, I am also more comfortable owning over earnings.
